The Plough, renowned for its fresh fish menu, is a typical, friendly, local rural pub in Shutlanger just over a mile from Towcester Racecourse and 3 miles from Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, with the popular Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum very close by. The outside garden is regularly used during the summer months and is extremely popular with families as there is a great play area for children to enjoy themselves. They have a lovely well-maintained restaurant offering over twenty dishes available on the Seafood Specials alone including Large Whole Dover Sole dressed with Lemon Butter. The fresh fish is delivered from Looe in Cornwall, and cooked to order. The Plough was awarded 19 out of 20 stars in a mystery diners, run by the Chronicle & Echo, which has yet to be beaten by any restaurant in Northamptonshire. Their restaurant has also won an award within the Charles Wells Group for Best Restaurant. As well as serving a fantastic fish menu, for those customers you don’t fancy the fish they offer a separate evening menu, with some great dishes including Roast Spiced Duck Breast, Chicken Supreme and much more. Whatever your taste you are sure to find something you’ll love. Restaurant open times are Monday – Saturday, 7pm – 9 pm. They offer a full range of real ale, wine and spirits for your enjoyment along with a lovely range of soft drinks for all the non-drinkers and drivers. With the pubs fantastic atmosphere and very friendly staff this makes The Plough a great place for family and friends to enjoy a quiet drink and with disabled access and a car park on the premises this makes the pub easily accessible for all.
