Detailed Information

The Bulls Head is an attractive and historic former coaching Inn that dates back to the 17th century and retains much of its traditional character both inside and out. The Bulls Head has been in current tenant, Debbie Shaws family since 1953. Initially run by her grandparents, it then passed to her uncle who took over at the helm for a mere 27 years, until Debbie and her husband Carl took charge just over eleven years ago. The pub enjoys a much leisurely pace of life, catering for its loyal locals as well as its passing tourists. They serve a full selection of draught beers, wines and spirits for your enjoyment. In the summer the pubs hanging baskets and window boxes come alive with colour and the roses display their blooms all around the front door. Behind the well-maintained cream exterior lies plenty of cosy, country character with dark wooden beams, open bare brick fire places and soft comfy banquettes. The bar is full of brass paraphernalia, prints and glowing wall lamps. Customers can choose from a large selection of meals, which are squeezed onto the blackboard and change regularly. All dishes are prepared using the freshest produce, which is sourced locally whenever possible, and everything from the bread to the cheese and biscuits is homemade. Together, the Shaws have built up a well-deserved reputation for their superb food, and as no bookings are taken and places are filled at first come first served basis, it is worth turning up a bit in advance. This small friendly pub is much loved by locals and by anyone who has the good fortune to stumbling upon it. It is well worth going out of your way to visit.
